Every oil & gas facility has its own mix of combustion, flaring, venting and fugitive sources. EmitLedger starts from engineering templates of those facilities, so the source register looks like your plant, not like a generic carbon form.

01 Floating production and storage

FPSOs and FSOs

Power generation, gas compression, HP and LP flares, cargo tank flashing and offloading on one hull, with fuel gas that changes composition as the reservoir does.

What makes it hard

  • Flare and fuel-gas volumes metered at different reference conditions
  • Cargo tank flashing and offloading losses that spreadsheets often leave out
  • Non-routine flaring during trips and start-ups that must be logged as events
  • Contractor-operated units reporting to more than one client

02 Fixed platforms and MOPUs

Offshore platforms

Turbine-driven power and compression, a flare, cold vents and blowdowns, pneumatic controllers and diesel-driven cranes and fire pumps.

What makes it hard

  • Cold vents and blowdowns with no meter, estimated from pressure, temperature and volume
  • Pneumatic controllers and seal vents counted rather than measured
  • Several platforms sharing one gas analysis and one export meter

03 Processing, boosting and treatment

Onshore gas plants

Gas engine compressors, amine acid-gas removal, glycol dehydration, fired heaters, a flare and grid electricity in one facility.

What makes it hard

  • CO₂ vented from amine units, calculated from inlet and outlet gas analyses
  • Rod packing and glycol still vents on many compressors and trains
  • Purchased electricity reported both location-based and market-based

Tank and loading losses, vapour handling, flares and power for storage terminals and export facilities, including liquefaction trains.

  • Loading and tank losses that depend on throughput and vapour composition
  • Large gas turbine or electric drives, where Scope 2 can dominate
  • Flares that handle both routine vapour and upset events

Diesel-driven rigs, well test flaring and owned vessels or vehicles, reported to operators and to your own corporate inventory.
